X-PHY Immutable is WORM mode by default. The device changes to write protect mode if an illegal action is performed — delete file/directory, rename file/directory, change existing data, overwrite file data or disk format — preventing data from being erased, modified or overridden.
Records Changed After They Were Written
Problem
On conventional storage, existing data can be changed, overwritten or renamed by anyone with access to the host.
Accidental Deletion or Disk Format
Problem
A deleted file or a formatted disk removes the only stored copy of a record, and routine handling makes that a matter of time.
Data Overwritten by Malicious Software
Problem
Software that can overwrite file data on writable media can destroy the stored record along with the working copy.
Host-Level Erase Commands
Problem
Standard cards accept Erase, Lock and Unlock commands from the host, leaving stored data reachable from the connected system.
